About my artwork
Portraiture and figurative studies form the core of my work. Apart from commissions, my subjects are usually people I know very well and I will often paint them several times to capture the different aspects of their character. Composition, tonal range, structure and negative spaces are all important variables to me, and I continually alter these to achieve changes in mood and atmosphere.
Recently I have been using copper as a painting support. The aim of this has been to integrate the metal surface with the image to achieve a luminous effect.
My artwork images are divided into subject groups that can be viewed by clicking the drop-down symbol (s) next to 'Artwork' on the main menu bar above.
In the information below some of my paintings you will see the initials IPC or NFS: IPC denotes that the painting is in someone's private collection and is no longer available for sale and NFS means that the painting is not for sale. Paintings currently for sale are in the 'For Sale' gallery.
