Dai Williams' Art

This is a portrait of my Auntie Rene on the occasion of her 90th birthday. Sadly she died a few months later. Normally I avoid doing posthumous portraits, but in this case I was able to  take several photographs of my auntie at her birthday party with the intention of later using them as references for a painting. The fact that I knew my subject very well also helped to inform my thinking about what I wanted to show in the portrait.
